🌿 About George Hartwell, M.Sc., RP

Founder of the Life Transformation Academy

Experienced Christian Psychotherapist

Introducing George Hartwell

I know what it means to be lost, to feel broken, and to search for healing that truly changes the heart.
The journey toward authentic emotional and spiritual transformation is not easy.
I’ve walked it myself.

When John and Paula Sanford first introduced me to the pattern of People Pleasing, something clicked inside me. I began to see my own struggles more clearly. That moment of recognition became the beginning of real change in my life — and now it shapes how I help others find freedom.

I believe in God’s promise:

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you.” — Ezekiel 36:26

But I also know this doesn’t happen instantly. Real transformation takes time. It happens as we allow God’s love to reach the deepest parts of our being and as we take courageous steps of healing.
My role is to walk with you on that journey.

Faith-based Therapy

My Approach to Healing

Professional and godly therapy

Over the years, I’ve developed a set of well-researched and proven tools that draw from psychology, prayer, and experiential healing. These include:

  • Christian Listening Prayer and guided prayer experiences

  • Practical interventions for healing trauma and core wounds

  • Gentle Deliverance methods that restore freedom without fear

  • The “Jesus in Between” prayer for breaking soul ties and curses

These are not quick fixes.
They are tools that consistently bring lasting results — getting to the root of pain and opening the way for God’s love and truth to bring renewal.

At the heart of the Life Transformation Academy is my mission:

➡️ To equip you with healing perspectives and practical interventions that actually work.

Some students come for their own healing journey.
Others come to parent in healthier ways and reduce generational trauma.
Still others want to grow skills that enrich their work in counseling, ministry, or people-focused professions — fields that can never be replaced by artificial intelligence.

Wherever you are starting from, the Academy exists to help you experience transformation and pass that gift on to others.

More about George Hartwell RP, M.Sc.

George Hartwell is a registered psychotherapist with a master's degree in clinical psychology

1. Credentials

I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and bring over 40 years of experience as a Christian psychotherapist and counselor.

During this time, I’ve witnessed profound healing from emotional trauma and identity wounds, leading to deep and lasting transformation in people’s lives.

My commitment to professional excellence includes certifications and advanced training in:

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

  • Memory Reconsolidation Therapy

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

This blend of psychological depth and faith-based healing allows me to address both the spiritual and emotional roots of pain.

2. My Journey

As a Therapist in Recovery

I’m not just a therapist — I’m also a person in recovery.
Breaking free from people-pleasing and walking through the pain of a broken marriage taught me lessons no textbook could.

Along that path, I rediscovered my true identity, found my voice, and entered into a fulfilling, joyful marriage. These experiences — though difficult — became the soil where compassion grew.

They’ve equipped me to be an empathetic and discerning guide for others who seek healing and transformation.

3. My Life

During the winter months, I stay active with aquafit sessions three days a week. I also enjoy tennis and pickleball, soaking in the fresh air and sunshine.

Every day, I cherish time with my wife, Sharon — talking about faith, near-death experiences, and what it means to live in the Father’s love.

I also write regularly on Quora, sharing insights on Love Path Christianity — a framework that connects theology, psychology, and lived spiritual experience.

4. My Psychotherapy Practice

I continue to serve individuals and couples in private psychotherapy practice, focusing on healing at the core — not just managing symptoms.

My sessions are deeply relational and prayerful. Clients often report feeling seen, safe, and spiritually renewed. Many experience deep emotional release and long-term freedom from old patterns.

Few things bring me greater joy than watching God bring light into dark places and witnessing the birth of a renewed identity.

“The greatest miracle is the transformation of the human heart.”

How is your Christian therapy evidence-based?

My Christian therapy approach is firmly rooted in evidence-based practices, particularly drawing from the field of psychological research known as "memory reconsolidation." This research offers robust principles that guide therapy focused on fostering lasting transformations in emotional learning. Psychological research on emotional learning consistently affirms the possibility of achieving permanent change, and I diligently adhere to these guidelines to facilitate enduring changes in the lives of the individuals I work with.

What Christian principles and methods is your work based upon?

The foundation of my work is firmly rooted in Christian principles. Central to my approach is the profound belief in God's love, understanding that this love gently transforms our innermost being. I have faith that God grants us wisdom from above - His truth. In my practice, I employ listening prayer to facilitate healing in the core beliefs associated with traumatic memories. Additionally, I integrate Jesus as a source of comfort and truth, allowing His presence to play a pivotal role in the therapeutic process.

What results do people achieve in your Christian therapy?

People are surprised by two things. One is how quickly healing can come. The other is the stability of such changes. In my Christian therapy practice, my primary emphasis is on facilitating enduring transformations in people's lives, and individuals indeed report these results. Countless individuals have attested to profound changes in their lives - transformations that endure.

Here are some ways I am seen

Examples of the type of stories I hear

In my childhood, I was often neglected, abandoned, and rejected. George helped me to understand the root of family issues after one session. He uncovered core issues that were holding me back as an adult and has given me the emotional and spiritual support to rise above the abandonment and rejection I went through as a child.

  1. I hear that I have a great sense of humor that complements my sincere nature, backed up by a deep faith in the Lord. My counselling helps give clients a more positive self-image and erases typical pitfalls that people's Christian faith has fallen into. He is very flexible and truly caring. Example: 'With God's help, he guided me to a path that I think eventually will lead me out of my tendency towards depression and past hurts.

  2. "I desperately needed someone to talk with and help me work out the struggles that I was facing. George was the first therapist I had ever sat down with, and I felt completely relaxed. His healing prayer therapy had a tremendously positive effect on my life; I literally was freed from strongholds that were at work in my life. I am very grateful to George and sincerely recommend him."

  3. "I have found George to be an extremely insightful counselor. One of his greatest gifts is his ability to be empathic. He maintains a harmonious balance between psychological and Biblical principles. His emphasis on listening prayer therapy has proven to be tremendously helpful to me in my search for self-awareness and healing. I am amazed at the results. Not only has God given me tremendous insight into my emotional scars and the lies I had believed, He has also replaced these with His truth.

  4. "We feel much better about ourselves and our relationship. You have taught us the skills to effectively communicate with each other and, in doing so, have brought us much closer together. You have handed us so many useful tools that we will forever use to better ourselves. Our deepest thanks."
